Girls of Impact Founder Represents Trinidad and Tobago at UNESCO Youth Forum in Uzbekistan
Samarkand, Uzbekistan: 4th November 2025:
Girls of Impact T&T is proud to announce that its Founder and Executive Director, Reneé Atwell, represented Trinidad and Tobago at the prestigious 14th UNESCO Youth Forum, held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Hosted alongside the UNESCO General Conference, the Forum convened outstanding young leaders from across the globe to contribute to global policy discussions, strengthen youth participation in multilateral governance, and help shape UNESCO’s youth priorities for the upcoming biennium.
Ms. Atwell joined youth delegates from over 150 countries, engaging in dialogue on issues critical to young people including climate resilience, digital equity, gender equality, inclusive education, and sustainable development.
“It was an honour to represent Trinidad and Tobago, and the wider Caribbean, in a space where youth voices inform global policy,” Ms. Atwell shared. “In light of the growing climate threats faced by Small Island Developing States, including recent extreme weather events in Jamaica and the region, it was crucial to ensure the Caribbean perspective was heard and prioritised.”
During the Forum, Ms. Atwell:
- Advocated for the needs and priorities of Caribbean youth and SIDS communities
- Engaged with global leaders and youth policymakers on climate justice
- Participated in cultural diplomacy engagements highlighting Caribbean identity
- Completed high-level sessions on youth leadership, policy innovation, and sustainable development
- Shared insights with international media, emphasizing the urgency of climate adaptation and youth empowerment in vulnerable regions

This global engagement reinforces the mission of Girls of Impact, a non-profit empowering young women in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean through leadership development, mentorship, and civic engagement.
Following the Forum, Ms. Atwell will spearhead a youth climate advocacy initiative in T&T, building awareness and mobilizing young women to champion resilience, sustainability, and community action.
“Representation is about advocacy, mobilization, and bringing global opportunities home to empower others,” Ms. Atwell added.
