Girls of Impact Executes Empower Her Rural Girls Programme at Roxborough Secondary School, Tobago in Celebration of International Day of the Girl Child
Tobago – 22nd October 2025:
Girls of Impact successfully hosted its Empower Her Rural Girls Programme at Roxborough Secondary School, Tobago, in recognition of the International Day of the Girl Child, a global observance that uplifts the rights, voices, and potential of girls while spotlighting the challenges they face.
This annual initiative aligns with the mission of Girls of Impact to empower young women across Trinidad and Tobago by enhancing leadership capacity, building confidence, and providing meaningful access to mentorship and skills development opportunities, especially for girls in rural communities.
Since its inception, the programme has impacted rural girls across multiple regions:
- 2023: BP Mayaro Resource Centre
- 2024: Blanchisseuse Secondary School
- 2025: Manzanilla Secondary School (Trinidad) and Roxborough Secondary School (Tobago)
For the first time, the 2025 edition expanded to both islands, deepening the organisation’s reach and strengthening pathways for rural girls to connect, learn, and lead.
This year’s programme was themed:
“The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontline of Crisis.”
A total of 14 students from Roxborough Secondary School participated. Post-programme feedback revealed that most participants rated the overall programme as excellent and all respondents (100%) agreed that the information presented in both sessions was clear and useful.
