Celebrating Excellence: Our Founder Honoured with the QECT Young Leaders Award
Girls of Impact T&T is proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone. Our Founder and Executive Director, Renee Elizabeth Atwell, has been awarded the prestigious QECT 100 Young Leaders Award by the Queen Elizabeth II Commonwealth Trust in recognition of her outstanding leadership and transformative work with young women across Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean region.
This honour is a testament not only to Renee’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, but also to the vision and impact of Girls of Impact as a movement dedicated to equipping young women with the tools, confidence, and opportunities to thrive.
Renee’s leadership extends far beyond Girls of Impact. She has held several influential regional and international roles, including serving as Trinidad and Tobago’s CARICOM Youth Ambassador and Dean of the CARICOM Youth Ambassador Corps, where she helped shape youth advocacy and policy engagement across the Caribbean. Her work has also reached the global stage through her appointment to the inaugural UNOPS Youth Engagement Platform, where she contributed to advancing youth participation in sustainable development initiatives.
Through each of these roles, Renee has consistently demonstrated a deep passion for service, leadership, and the advancement of young people, particularly young women. Under her guidance, Girls of Impact has grown into a powerful platform that nurtures leadership, fosters community, and creates meaningful pathways for personal and professional development.
The QECT Young Leaders Award recognises individuals who are making significant contributions to their communities and driving positive change. Renee embodies these values wholeheartedly. Her work continues to inspire not only the Girls of Impact community but also a wider network of young leaders across the region and beyond.
As an organisation, we are incredibly proud to salute Renee for this well-deserved recognition. Her journey reminds us of the power of purpose-driven leadership and the importance of investing in the next generation of changemakers.
Congratulations, Renee! Your impact is undeniable, and your leadership continues to light the way for so many.
