Girls of Impact Receives $10,000 Government Grant to Support Accelerate Her Career Mentorship Programme
Girls of Impact Trinidad and Tobago is pleased to announce the receipt of a $10,000 grant from the Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services in support of the fourth cohort of its flagship Accelerate Her Career Mentorship Programme.
The grant, provided through the Ministry’s NGO Unit, will contribute to the delivery of the 2026 programme and represents an important investment in the personal, professional and leadership development of young women in Trinidad and Tobago.
Now entering its fourth year, Accelerate Her is designed to equip young women with the mentorship, skills, networks and practical experiences needed to confidently navigate their personal and professional journeys.
Preparing Young Women to Lead and Thrive
The 2026 cohort will bring together young women from across Trinidad and Tobago for an intensive eight-week development experience combining structured mentorship, personal development workshops, career development and community service.
Participants will be paired with mentors who will provide guidance, share professional and personal insights, and support mentees as they identify and work towards their goals.
The programme will also feature a series of personal development workshops addressing areas relevant to young women as they transition through education, employment, entrepreneurship and leadership.
A key component of the programme will be the Accelerate Her Career Summit, which will expose participants to practical career-development opportunities and professionals from a range of industries.
Participants will also work collaboratively to develop and execute Community Impact Projects, allowing them to put leadership into practice while contributing meaningfully to communities across Trinidad and Tobago.
Investing in Young Women Creates Wider Impact
Girls of Impact believes that investing in young women creates a multiplier effect that extends beyond the individual participant.
When young women have access to mentorship, professional networks, practical skills and opportunities to lead, they are better positioned not only to advance their own aspirations, but also to contribute to their workplaces, communities and country.
Accelerate Her was established with this philosophy at its core.
Over the course of the programme, Cohort 4 participants will be encouraged to think beyond individual achievement and consider how their talents, knowledge and leadership can be used in service of others.
Partnership for Youth Development
The support of the Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services will assist Girls of Impact in continuing to provide accessible and meaningful development opportunities for young women.
Girls of Impact welcomes the Ministry’s investment in Accelerate Her and the recognition of the important role that civil society organisations can play in complementing national youth-development efforts.
“We are extremely grateful to the Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services for investing in the fourth cohort of Accelerate Her. For us, this grant represents an investment in the potential of young women and in our belief that when they are given access to mentorship, opportunities and supportive networks, they can create tremendous impact within their communities.”
- Renee Atwell, Founder & Executive Director, Girls of Impact Trinidad and Tobago
Girls of Impact extends its sincere appreciation to the Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services and its NGO Unit for supporting Accelerate Her Cohort 4.
As preparations continue for the 2026 programme, the organisation looks forward to welcoming a new cohort of young women and supporting them through eight weeks of learning, mentorship, sisterhood, leadership and impact.
